Off to Barcelona

We were up at 5:15 getting ready to walk to the station for our 6:30 train.

It can be kind of neat that early in the morning - dark narrow empty streets. Everybody sleeping. Us making a racket with our rolly bags.

We left Bilbao in the pitch dark heading the long trek up into the Pyrenees then watched the sun slowly come up and the landscape change from mountain to high plateau.

We went from verdant farm land to dry semi desert. Similar to Kamloops in places.

At some town which we forget the name of we saw an awful lot of storks, At lease 20 of then perched nesting on one building. They are very impressive birds. They nest on roof tops, chimneys, power poles anything that gives them a view.

Shelley was sitting on the left side of the train and shot these storks through the
right side window the stork in flight has nest making materials in its beak

Finally we started heading on the down slope to  Barcelona. Almost six and a half hours on the milk train from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean.
